Terms of sale and licence
1. Who you would be contracting with
The software is published by Kasra Rahjerdi. When the store opens, the sale itself is expected to be made through a merchant of record, which acts as the seller for the transaction and handles tax and invoicing.
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] Legal entity name, registered address, and the identity of the merchant of record.
2. What the licence grants
The intended shape, to be confirmed in the final text:
- A perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the version of Ephemeris Lab you purchased.
- Coverage of Windows, macOS and Linux under a single licence.
- Installation on the licence holder's own desktop machines, for their own use, including commercial and client-facing astrological practice.
- Unlimited charts, with no metering and no per-client fee.
- Free minor updates within the purchased major version.
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] The exact number of concurrent activations, the rules for moving a licence to a replacement machine, and whether any organisational or educational licence exists.
3. What the licence does not grant
Expected to cover: no redistribution, resale, sublicensing or rental of the software; no reverse engineering except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded; no removal of licensing or provenance mechanisms; no sharing of a licence key beyond the licence holder.
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] Operative restriction wording.
4. Licence keys and revocation
Keys activate offline and require no account. A key that has been refunded, charged back, or issued in error may be added to a public revocation list that the application downloads, after which it will stop activating.
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] The grounds for revocation and the notice given before it takes effect.
5. Major versions and continuity
The intent is that a future major version is a separate paid upgrade, and that the version you bought continues to work whether or not you buy it.
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] Any commitment on support lifetime for a purchased version.
6. Founder's licence terms
The launch offer is intended to include a price-locked upgrade to version two, early access to builds, an optional credit in the application, and a vote on the ordering of the roadmap. A roadmap vote orders work that is already planned; it is not a commitment to build any particular feature, and scope remains the owner's decision.
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] The precise perks, the exact window dates, and the terms of the version-two price lock.
7. Warranty, liability and professional use
Ephemeris Lab is a calculation tool. It performs astronomical calculations and presents them; it does not provide interpretations, advice, or professional services of any kind, and any use made of a chart is the user's own.
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] Warranty scope, limitation of liability, and the statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded — which vary by country and must be drafted with that in mind.
8. Refunds
See the refund policy, which is also a draft.
9. Privacy
Covered by the privacy policy, which is in force for this website today.
10. Governing law and disputes
[OWNER TO FINALIZE] Governing law, jurisdiction, and any consumer dispute-resolution route.
11. Changes to these terms
The terms in force for a purchase are the terms published at the time of that purchase. Later changes do not apply retroactively to a licence you already own.
